An up-and-coming rugby star from Wales has raised over £1,000 for a hair loss charity and a forthcoming sports tour.

Christopher Holmes, 14, who plays for Mold, Flintshire and North Wales Under 16's teams,.

Christopher’s hair donation was in two stages. First he had 10 inches of his long blonde hair chopped off to raise money for children's hair loss charity, Little Princess. Then he had his head shaved to raise money for a team rugby tour to France in next year.

The hair shave came as part of a fundraising day at Mold Rugby Club, where there was also a barbecue and performances from two local bands, Impaled Existence and Vena Cava.

Christopher's Mother, Jan, told local paper the Evening Leader: "Chris' pony tail was auctioned off and raised £100. Supporters then paid to cut the remaining hair off and we finished off with another auction to have his head shaved and added £36 for the fund. Altogether including the barbecue, the day raised £432 towards the tour fund.”

Christopher’s original ponytail has been posted to the Little Princess charity along with a cheque. The total amount that Christopher raised for charity is over £1,000, as he also gained sponsorship for his hair loss endeavours.
